HOW TO DEAL WITH DIFFICULTIES

Daniel 10:10-14 “And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.”

Daniel was grieved when he understood that there was still much suffering coming for God’s people. However, instead of running from God, Daniel ran to God with 3 weeks of prayer and fasting. For 3 weeks, he heard nothing… but then an angel appears in dramatic fashion to give greater understanding to Daniel. The first thing that the angel says to Daniel is that he is greatly beloved. In the next verse the angel explains the delay in responding to Daniel’s requests. He tells Daniel that God has seen and heard his prayers from day one but that there was an unseen battle happening between the angels and the prince of Persia. God was working all along on behalf of God’s people, even if Daniel couldn’t see. Lastly the angel begins explaining things to Daniel and giving him a better understanding of God’s plan.

When you’re dealing with difficulties, run to God like Daniel did. Be persistent in your prayers and even if you don’t see the results, always remember that God’s love for you is great. God is often working in ways that we cannot see. Trust that in the Lord’s timing He will give you the understanding that you seek. No matter the situation, we need to keep the overarching truth of Romans 8:28 in our heart. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

II Timothy 2:3 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”
