STAY TRUE TO WHAT IS RIGHT NO MATTER WHAT

8-26-24 | Jeremiah 28:9 “The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord hath truly sent him.”

Jeremiah was commanded by God to wear a yoke symbolizing the coming bondage and warn the nations that God is going to subject them all them to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon. He tells them not to resist, because this is the Lord’s doing and that it will last for generations. In chapter 28 another “prophet” (Hananiah) comes on the scene and says that the captivity is only going to last 2 years. Then he takes the wooden yoke off of Jeremiah and breaks it as a sign. Two prophets with two different messages… they both can’t be right.

Jeremiah 28:17 “So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.”

Staying true to what is right may not always be pleasant, but in the end you will be much better off by being honest with yourself and others. A weeping prophet is better than a dead prophet. I would say the same of us… a sorrowful moment accepting a hard truth is better than a future filled with regret because we would not listen.
